Please note: We are not open to the public except on our Open Days, once a month from April to October. Please check the events page for details. Timed tickets need to be purchased in advance. The number of tickets is limited, so as not to overwhelm our residents.

Story Book Farm was founded in 2000. We became a registered charity in 2011. The original founders left in 2015, and since then the Sanctuary has been run by its Board of Directors.
In 2020, we built a second building to house additional monkeys who needed a home. The new building includes a medical facility, so our vets can care for the residents on site. We have called it "George's Haven" after a long-time former resident.
Until 2021, we relied 100% on volunteers to care for our residents. In April 2021, we hired our first full-time employee and now also have some part-time employees, to ensure there is always someone available for the monkeys and lemurs.
